Dance
hall artist Episode has reviewed 2015 as a year of awards and also
stated that though the year was good for him, he did not generate a lot
of income from his hard work.
Episode
last year emerged as the Most Promising Artist at the African Youth
Choice Awards (AYCA) which took place in Nigeria and also came back home
to win the Best Dance hall Video at Bass Awards 2015.
In an exclusive interview with the Avatar hit maker he stated...
“People
might have known Episode for being nominated for few awards years ago
but last year was just a year that I got my first award.”
“
And the award is so much dear to me because it wasn’t a local awards I
got my first award which is an international award for Most Promising
Artist for the year 2015 at the AYCA and on we won another award so last
year was quite a tough year though but it was a good year for me”
He also added that though he appeared at many gigs last year he didn’t make a lot of money from those shows.
“I
will say financial wise it was a bit low because looking at the kind of
work that we the artist put in, in this part of the world or in our
part of the industry as Africans or as Ghanaians we don’t get to enjoy
that level of the hard work that we put in.”
“I
am not just speaking for myself I will say this for every artist, I
might not know what other artists got though but majority and then from
past experience I know that the industry hasn’t gotten to that level for
us to enjoy the kind of work that we put in.”
His
perseverance and dedication led to him being nominated for many
prestigious awards but was not been able to secure any until 2015.
Seen as epitome of an energetic musician Episode has climbed lots of stages both local and international.
Born
as Theophilus Nii Ardey Otoo “Dj Baddy” is gradually winning the hearts
of Ghanaians with the beautiful craft he employs in his act on stage.
