Hiplife artiste Kwaw Kese has
observed that freedom is the most expensive thing in the world and has
therefore advised his fans not to abuse their freedom, since they risked
losing it.
‘Abodam’ told Starr Drive host Bola Ray in his first
ever media interview after he was granted bail following his arrest in
Kumasi for smoking Indian hemp publicly that his few weeks of
incarceration in cells has made him appreciate what it means to have
one’s freedom.
“Freedom is expensive…use freedom wisely because
it’s very expensive…it’s the most expensive thing…being locked up there
is not easy,” he told Bola Ray.
Kese was granted bail on health grounds on Tuesday December 30, 2014 after being in police custody for five weeks.
Before his bail, he had been on admission at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) after he took ill while in cells.
The controversial Ghanaian rapper was arrested by the police in Kumasi on November 23, 2014.
He was in the Ashanti Regional capital to perform at an event on one Saturday.
Kese
was picked up by the police a few minutes ahead of midnight that same
day, while “cooling off after his show” at a popular local hangout
around Nhyeaso.
According to a police account, Kwaw who was smoking the weed with a group of friends did not fight the arrest.
"We
all know cannabis and he will not deny, he hasn't denied" said the
officer in charge of the arrest, ASP Charles Appiah, who is the head of
the Drug Law Enforcement Unit at the Kumasi police command.
The
“King of the Streets” was first put before court on a provisional charge
of use of narcotic drug without lawful authority. Kese returns to Court
next month.
