Ghanaian Rapper, Emmanuel Botchey known in the showbiz circles as Kwaw
Kesse has described his time in Kumasi Central Prison as a million
dollar experience.
“God works in mysterious ways, he took me there for a purpose so that
all my projects could come to pass, so I thank God I had the chance to
go through that, it was a million dollar experience” he said.
He spoke to Mzgee on the Daybreak Hitz (Showbiz Review) show on Hitz Fm.
Kwaw launched the GHC 1 campaign which he has called on Ghanaians
especially market women to donate just one cedi each to build industries
in the various prisons across the country.
The campaign was inspired by his recent experience in Kumasi prison
where he was incarcerated for allegedly smoking a narcotic substance and
later released.
However, Kwaw has taken his GHC 1 campaign a step ahead, the Fanti
rapper moved from the market which is his usual collection point to some
corporate entities and his first point of call was the Multimedia Group
Limited.
When asked how prominent his GHC 1project has been since it was
launched, the ‘Massa I beg’ Rapper said “It’s going great, I think
Ghanaians have sympathy, when I started this project, people thought it
was just one of those things, but now I have been going round and the
donation has been massive”.
He continued that, “The bible even says for God loves a cheerful giver and some people are in need so we have to support them”.
‘Abodam’ concluded that, the project is to empower inmates to assist
them develop their skills, fend for themselves and their dependants and
