The third edition of Bass awards came off yesterday
at the National theater recording a very low turnout plus security issues.
Bass awards is currently the only award scheme
dedicated to reggae and dance hall music in Ghana yet lovers of both genres
failed to show up for the event.
Most nominees like Iwan, stonebwoy, samini,
Kill Beat, Sarkodie, Master Garzy, Wutah Kobby and others weren’t present
either to receive a plaque or to support the event.
In their quest to save the show organizers opened
free gate at a point but to no avail.
Though production was 50% on point some
patrons said the event flopped because it was on a working day (Wednesday).
Aside low patronage this year, the show
also faced security problems. There were no security personnel at the gate and
in the auditorium.
Fans for some artists were running on
chairs and speakers to see them perform. Others even getting on stage but there
were no security personnel to keep this in check.
