Vodafone Ghana Music Awards frowns on using profane words in songs, in fact they won’t nominate your song if they find it profane. The likes of R2bess, Mzbel have had their share.
Guess what? News has started making rounds that Bisa Kdei’s ‘Brother brother’ won’t be nominated for the upcoming VGMAs because of the ‘F-word he used in the song following an article that was written.”
When asked to react to the story, he revealed on Hitz Fm that he was thinking the word ‘FUCKING’ is accepted as part and parcel of the Ghanain culture.
He said, “I’m disappointed in the writer, why should you wait until the song has become hit before you would alert the general public. Ghanaians should forgive me for using that word, I thought it has been accepted as part of us, we all use it daily so I thought it has become accepted generally, it’s used on the streets and more so I just thought it wise to use it in my song.”
When asked whether he will be releasing a radio edit version of the song, since it has been revealed that the song contained profane words, he said, ‘I’m not sure I will be doing that, the song is already a hit, there is no need releasing a cover version, they should play it that way.”
Bisa Kdei however revealed that the song still deserves nomination at the VGMAs despite the F-word.
