Ghana Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan was part of the Shanghai SIPG starting line up when they defeated Japanese Side Gamba Osaka 2 -1 at the Shanghai stadium.
Brazilian Striker Elkeson Cardoso opened the scoring for Shanghai SIPG in the 41st minute of the first half with Patric Aguiar Oliveira of Gamba Osaka equalizing in the 60th minute.
Elkeson responded with a splendid effort to restore Shanghai SIPG’s lead.
Gyan, 30, sustained an injury as he played in the Asian Champions League 2-1 defeat to Melbourne Victory when he was stretched off after complaining of his groin.
Ghana coach Avram Grant is expected to name his squad today and he will be hoping to get Gyan fit for Ghana’s AFCON qualifier double header against Mozambique next month.
