Former Miss Malaika 2006 winner, who has always been a perfect
African role model for embracing one’s heritage in Ghana, has taken a
strong stand against skin bleaching, in a new post.
According to her, she has never seen a white music video with only black girls , but always sees a black music video with only fair skinned and white girls, hence her decision to stop watching music videos.

“Happy Friday#Kings&Queens.
I recently visited #Tamale(a town in the northern part of Ghana)
Where a large portion of my family lives.
I randomly run into my cousin who I hadn’t seen in years.
I didn’t recognize her until i heard her voice.
She was a totally different person.
She was light skinned.
I immediately said why are you bleaching?
She said “aahh” I also had to get married , Hamamat. I am getting old”
I immediately felt her pain.
I have met women who bleach their children.
I stopped watching music videos because of how they used only light skin women , in a love song etc.
You will see every color but black .
I have never seen a white music video with only black girls , but I always see a black music video with only fair skinned and white girls .
I do not speak for any particular race, country or color.
I speak for myself .
I speak because I believe the world is for us all.
I speak because I believe in God and I believe he is in each and everyone of us .
I speak because I believe in Africa and all it is made of .
I speak because I believe in sharing my truth .
I speak because my sisters are dying.
Skin bleaching is a silent killer and it is killing the black race faster than the speed of light because it it targeted at our women and our men are helping us do this.
What kind of love is this?
I use to think it was an african thing but it is here too.
It is all over the world.
