Beef Songs Make No Sense – Sarkodie

Award-winning rapper, Sarkodie opines that songs intended to spark lyrical war or respond to shots fired by another rapper mostly do not make sense.According to Sarkodie, rappers on such songs brag about being the best and look down on the abilities of their colleagues. Although he admits the act is a way of getting fans entertained, the Illuminati rapper is of the view that loyal fans of a particular rapper would never regard another rapper as the best.
“It’s trying to rap and getting people entertained. People forget how Sarkodie was. Sometimes, my mindset changes and that is why I have not been aggressive for a while. My belief as at now is, nobody can really be the best because the best has to have everybody’s support. The moment somebody is rapping and you are not a fan, you don’t like him. You are the best to who likes you. Sarkodie is the best rapper to ‘Sarkholics’ and ‘SarkNatiives’, EL is going to be the best rapper to ‘Eliens’, M.anifest to ‘M.anifans’. So realistically, beef songs mostly do not make sense because you can’t make someone change his mind on who he wants. However if I’m supposed to go with this philosophy, I will never be exciting,” he told Sammy Flex on AM Pluzz, Wednesday.
Sarkodie and M.anifest engaged in a lyrical banter this year after the former released a song titled, ‘Bossy’ on which he self-aggrandized his rap prowess.
A sharp rebuttal from Sarkodie titled, ‘Kanta’ sparked controversies to the extent that it was discussed on socio-political morning shows, abrantepa.com observed.
According Sarkodie, the lyrical battle served a purpose.
“This [the beef] has to come in to cause a stair. So I just did. It wasn’t personal. I knew what it’s going to result to. It just has to be healthy. We achieved that,” he said.
Sarkodie also touched on a number of issues including why he did not vote in the 2016 polls, signing Awal, stolen ‘trumpet’ beat and the future of Akwaboah at SarkCess Music.
