Nicholas Omane Acheampong Goes Hard On Gospel Musicians
It is often said that lions do not eat lions but Ghanaian Gospel musician Nicholas Omane Acheampong doesn’t mind throwing a brick at some of his colleagues for refusing to seek ‘knowledge’.The musician known for some ‘wild’ song titles which he reveals are borne out of his consistent study of the Holy Bible in an interview on Vision 1FM in Accra stated most of his colleague musicians always looked out for shortcuts to make it in the industry hence the lack of diversity.
According to him, most of them refused to research or learn leading to the remixing and rendering of various versions of the same old songs our grandparents sung.
“Most of the Gospel musicians are lazy that’s why you hear the same songs that were sung by our grandparents being sung all over today.”
Although he admits it’s never wrong to visit some of the old songs and bring them back to live, he also believes it will be in the best interest of all for the Gospel musicians to learn and research so they bring new things all the time.
“…it’s not wrong to remix some of the good old songs but we need to learn. The reason why I keep surprising people is because I learn new things all the time and these are things from the same Bible”, he said.
The winner of the Gospel musician of the year award at the 2013 Ghana Music Awards has a number of albums to his credit with song titles such as Aposor, Mahashala, Zafinath Paneah and many others.
