Nigerian
radio personality, television host, vlogger, and bestselling author,
Toke Makinwa has advised women to support each other at the launch of
her first book "On Becoming", over the weekend at the La Palm Royal
Beach Hotel, Accra.
The
author who is also known for co-hosting The Morning Drive on Rhythm
93.7 FM shared the bitter-sweet experiences that inspired her to write
her maiden book "On Becoming".
According to
Toke, her failed marriage with fitness trainer Ayida Maje motivated her
to write the book, prior to her divorce, she stated that the conviction
to write a book has always been there but the appropriate time to do
that was a challenge. Makinwa asserted that her marriage experience is
one of the factors that propelled her to satisfy the desire to write.
She
shared profound memories about her childhood, family and the support
system that has backed her to seamlessly migrate from banking to media
work and now writing and publishing.
There was
an awesome Q & R (Questions and Answers) session between Toke and
patrons at the book launch. she answered questions pertaining her
divorce, what motivated her to write the book, her biggest challenge,
etc.
She also entreated women shy away from backbiting so as to enable them achieve more greatness.
