It has been days of twist and turns in the showbiz industry after
George Quaye came out with revelations that some gospel artistes had
allegedly paid bribes in order to win awards. He received a lot of
bashing whilst he was praised by other factions for coming out with the
hidden truth.
Charterhouse, organizers of the annual Ghana Music Awards has
dropped him as the PR for the 2017 Ghana Music Awards board after he was
hit with allegations of demanding and receiving bribes from acts who
were contracted by the company to perform at their events.
George Quaye has been hot over the days as the allegations keeps
getting intense but ace comedian Derrick Kwabena Bonney popularly known
in the industry as DKB has jumped to the rescue of the former PR to
debunk the bribery allegations.
In a conversation with GeorgeBritton.com, the comedian made it
clear that George Quaye was innocent of all the claims but was rather
been framed to defame him for coming out with the truth. He was also
quick to add that he was ready to defend him anywhere and called the
situation very disgracing.
DKB made it know that George Quaye is a very dedicated person in
helping the Ghanaian showbiz industry work well and develop. He said
George Quaye had often helped in getting him gigs with Charterhouse
personally and every time he made the effort to thank with a token, he
will be no where to be found.
DKB revealed that he would personally go to George’s office but he
wouldn’t meet him and it was as if he (George Quaye) was playing hide
and seek with him just to avoid him (DKB) from giving him his token of
appreciation. He further on said that George had declined mobile money
gifts from him on several occasions with the mindset of only helping a
brother to build a better creative industry.
The comedian made the assertion that since 1011 laughs in 2010 till
date, George had never taken anything from him though he tried to show
appreciation for him getting him on the show to perform.
He said he had
evidence that George was clean of all the accusations which he calls
baseless and without facts. He said it was stress chasing George around
just to say thank you to him.
He vented out his anger and disappointment on the issue and asked
that people ignore those claims because it will only retrogress the
success of our creative industry.
