How Asamoah Gyan Is Preparing For Life After Football

How Asamoah Gyan Is Preparing For Life After Football
The Black Stars captain has already started planning for life after football, with the striker taking up roles in other fields.
Footballers these days are part of the league of best paid professionals in the world. However, life after playing the game differs from player to player.

For some players, taking up roles in the game is what best suits them, while others prefer to take up entirely different roles that do not relate to football in any way.

Former players like Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher, Zinedine Zidane and Paul Scholes are all currently within the former category, as they prefer to take up roles as pundits and coaches.

However, others such as Asamoah Gyan are within the latter category.

The Black Stars captain has already started planning for life after football with his involvement in other areas of business.

As evidenced by the projects that Gyan is currently undertaking, the on-loan Al Ahli striker has no intention of taking up a role in punditry, or even as a technical person – at least for now.

By contrast, the 31-year-old has rather taken to marketing, product sales and boxing promotion.

As a footballer reportedly earning close to $250,000 per week, Gyan stands as one of the highest paid players in the world. But it is his investments that have really caught the eyes of many.

Gyan was criticized by majority of Ghanaians when he moved from Sunderland to Al Ain, with a section of fans finding the move to be weird. However, financially, it was a move worthwhile for the former Udinese player.

And the striker has not looked back since then – making investment upon investment with his earnings. Gyan is also the brand ambassador for numerous products, making his walle weightier.

The all-time Ghana top-scorer has numerous businesses, including a transportation firm which sees its vehicles move from Accra to Kumasi on daily and weekly basis.

He is also a boxing promoter who owns and bankrolls the ‘Baby Jet’ promotions, which currently has IBO lightweight champion Emmanuel Tagoe on its roster. In an era where most footballers retire with very little to show, Gyan is proving to be an exception.

The Black Stars captain looks like a man with an eye on the future and his current projects are certainly in preparation for life after football.

Gyan might have another three to four years to play at the top, but with his current investments, he would certainly have no fears even if he is to retire today.
