The woman who reportedly set ablaze
Capt. Maxwell Mahama’s body after he was lynched at Denkyira-Oboase in
the Upper West Denkyira district of the Central region has been
arrested.
She was arrested Friday night, the Central Regional Police commander DCOP David Ampah Benin told Kasapa News.
The suspect was seen in the murder video torching the body of the Junior Military Officer with a match.
Sixteen people have since been arrested following the murder of Capt. Maxwell Mahama.
Seven out of the 16 are on remand including William Baah, the assemblyman who allegedly mobilised the youth to attack the soldier.

Captain Maxwell Mahama, who was a Commander of a Military Detachment in Boase was killed by the inhabitants when he went for jogging Monday morning on suspicion he was an armed robber.
Two women reportedly saw a pistol on him, and because of an armed robbery incident that had happened recently in the area, alarmed by their discovery of the pistol called the assemblyman for the area who organized the youth of the town to lynch him.
Captain Maxwell Mahama who was not dressed in military uniform at the time pleaded several times that he was not a criminal, but the angry residents kept hitting him with cement blocks until he died. They then burned his body.
CLARIFICATION: Woman Who Was Captured With A Phone Recording Captain Mahama’s Murder Which Many Took For Lighting A Fire ARRESTED
The woman is seen in some of the photos up-close to Captain Mahama’s body on the floor–recording his body with a phone. Initially, many thought she was lighting fire into him but a later video showed that she was just holding a phone and not lighting any fire.
Apparently, she had escaped to a village near Kumasi, where she was arrested.
