Popular Ghanaian music trio VVIP has
thrown its weight behind celebrated Ghanaian investigative journalist of
international repute Anas Aremeyaw Anas for his works aimed at exposing
the corrupt in society.
The undercover journalist is celebrated
for exposing human rights abuses, corruption, thievery and embezzlement
in Ghana and other parts of Africa. His recent exposé was on corruption
in Ghana’s judiciary.
VVIP, made up of Zeal, Prodigal and Reggie
Rockstone, said it appreciates what Anas has been doing because it
would bring to an end all forms of corruption Ghanaians engage in.
The group’s comment comes a few days after it released a new music video which features Anas’ trending mask.
Anas
has always made public appearances in the mask which is made of beads.
Over the past few months, the mask has attracted a lot of attention and
VVIP’s latest video for the new single titled Dogo Yaro, featuring
dancehall artiste Samini, also featured video vixens wearing the mask.
Zeal
told NEWS-ONE on Tuesday that though they decided to use the mask
because it was the latest thing trending, it was to celebrate Anas.
According to him, they appreciate Anas and hope to meet him one day to personally congratulate him for his good works.
“The
Anas thing is something out there now and we wanted to do something
that is current and I think it worked. Yes, of course we appreciate what
Anas is doing because he is trying to protect the country and make sure
people do the right thing. So in a way, you should know that whatever
you are doing, you need to watch your ways because Anas will be coming
for you. Yes we definitely want to meet Anas one day,” he added.
He
said the video will be on some international platforms and that fans
should watch out for interesting and great stuff from the group in the
coming weeks.
The Dogo Yaro song, he said, is to inspire people
to be strong. He also announced an upcoming nationwide tour the group
will embark on.
On the same Anas issue, popular actress Yvonne
Nelson has in a series of tweets endorsed the journalist on social media
platforms and has encouraged Ghanaians to support him. Below are the
tweets:
“@anasglobal, one of my favourite people in the world. what a man.”
“I appreciate this amazing man @anasglobal.”
“If Ghana had 10 of him we wouldn’t be here……Let’s keep encouraging him.”
“We celebrate you..We are proud of you…Ghana needs you @anasglobal.”
