Review Of Performances at the VGMA 2016

Tags

According to the VGMA organizers, they didn’t accept Bisa Kdeis “brother brother” in the nominations because he used the “F” word in the song. But during his performance, we saw Bisa happily performing “brother brother “, “F” word in tow…. several times.

Many have been unimpressed with El’s stage craft over the years and his performance at the VGMAs did nothing but disappoint as usual. He would further shock many by claiming that, he came to the awards for his BET business and not to entertain the audience.

Stonebwoy as usual surprised everybody with an amazing performance which got everyone on their feet yearning for more. He seemed keen to show everyone that he has had a successful knee surgery and is very fine. He bent his knee and jumped several times while performing just to let Ghanaians know he is fully fit and we say kudos to him.

Omar Sterling came did his thing and it was perfect even though he struggled at the beginning of his performance. Many have had issues with adoma and her remixes but on the night she proved herself to be a very brilliant singer. We will like to see her set up her game as a musician and be original.
Efya also came on stage and disappointed everybody in the auditorium performing songs she had covered instead of her own songs. Plus she seems to have put on weight…. hmmmmmmmmmm.
Then came king Sark, the Mayweather of Ghana music who was expected to knock everyone out with his punch lines and energetic performance. But, alas, things didn’t go as expected. Let’s just say the mighty sark was out of sorts at the VGMAs.

All said and done, the event largely didn’t live up to standard. Which is becoming an all too frequent occurrence at Ghana’s premiere music award show.
