Renowned sports journalist in Kenya, Collins Okinyo has named his son after Michale Essien.
The 34-year old’s reputation as great footballer on the continental touched the heart of Kenya journalist and he named his son John Essien.
Prince John Essien, the six year son of Okinyo is a pupil of the Makini Primary School in Nairobi is following the footsteps of Michael Essien as expected by his father by playing for the school’s junior team.

Okinyo has explained his decision to name his son after the legendary Ghanaian midfielder.
“Michael Essien is my favourite African footballer of all time and the decision to name my son after him is because of my admiration for his immense qualities,” herosportsgh reported.
Michael Essien won the UEFA Champions League in 2012 and also featured for the Black Stars in their maiden FIFA World Cup in 2006.
